Weekly Read – Monkey Puzzle

This is another bedtime read from Toast! camp We read Monkey Puzzle by Julia Dondaldson – such a great book but what surprised me was how many of the older ones still love this.

Little monkey has lost his mum so butterfly tries to help him. But each time he gets it wrong – finding elephants, bats and spiders but not Monkey’s mum. Eventually they realise butterfly’s problem is he doesn’t know that monkey looks like his mum because “None of my babies look like me”. With a new search they soon find dad who takes Monkey home to mum.

A fabulous tale of family, love and community all told in rhyme (which you will be able to recite for years to come!) and with the brilliant illustrations of Axel Scheffler.
