Praying with children – 10

As Christmas and New Year approach I’m starting to think through prayers and activities to carry us through the season. This prayer idea is one I first used when the boys were 2 and (nearly) 4 at the start of the new year.

We took a pot of bubbles and chatted about all the things we remembered from the past year – that year it was trips to the farm, starting pre school, chicken pox, swimming lessons, caravan holidays, visits to cousins, broken legs, etc. For each of these we blew bubbles  as we remembered, and thanked God for the happy times and for being with us in the tricky times. The boys loved it and I was amazed how much they could remember from the year.

It was a fantastic few moments to reflect on the past and look forward to what the next year had in store in a prayerful way.
