Praying with children – 5

Today’s is a simple way of encouraging children to pray as part of a group, to add their own prayers to the corporate prayer. This uses a similar way of working to Circle Time used in many schools and nurseries so familiar to the children.

Take a ball / teddy / other object and pass it from person to person. When a child is holding the object they can pray or talk about something they would like to pray for. If they don’t want to speak they simply pass it on. This could be done with silent prayer or prayers out loud (depending on the age of the children). Praying like this on a regular basis could be an important place for the children to understand the validity and importance of their own prayers.
