Weekly Read – Mum and Dad Glue

Last summer a good friend’s marriage ended in a horrible way but in the midst of it her main concern was to make sure her daughters were supported in every way possible. This included finding books to help them through. She asked me to find some suitable books and Mum and Dad Glue by Kes Gray was one of the best.

As his parent’s marriage breaks down a little boy looks for a pot of glue to stick them back together. In the glue shop he can find every type of glue but the one that he wants. Finally the shop owner helps him see that though his parents may be broken their love for him is not.

Told in rhyme with fabulous illustrations this story is incredibly powerful and a huge support to children caught in the midst of family breakdown.
