This Easter for Toast! to Go we created our own set of Easter Eggs (based on the Resurrection Eggs idea) for families to open and explore at home during Holy Week.
We chose 6 events during Holy Week and included a part of the story and a symbol of the events.
A leaf for Palm Sunday; a piece of cracker for the Last Supper; a coin to represent Judas betraying Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemene; a cross for the Crucifixion; a piece of cloth as they placed Jesus body in the tomb; and a stone to represent the stone rolled away on Easter Day.
Talking to people on Easter Day some people opened one each day and others opened the ones relevant to that particular day. In our house I wanted to open one each day but E was insistent that we opened on the actual da!. And he loved leading everyone through the story in this way. It also proved a great activity for them to return to and read themselves when they had time. A great way to retell the Easter Story that we will return to again next year.
