Feeding the birds

As this awful weather looks set to continue we decided to make some food treats for the birds.
We first made these simple birdfeeders with a local park ranger when the boys were tiny. And we’ve made them a few times since.
Simply take pine cones, lard, bird seed, raisins and some twine or string.

Attach the string or twine around the pine cone.
Scrape the pine cones through the lard so that they scoop the fat up.
Roll them in mix of wild bird seed and raisins.
Hang in the garden and let the birds enjoy!!
