Toast! December 2013

Toast! last week was the usual December chaos!
We took the line of ‘A present for the world’ to explore the Christmas story. And as we did we:
– made mugs to give as gifts
– wrote cards for friends
– used stickers and stampers to make nativity pictures
– dressed up
– made manager cakes (jelly babies covered in ready roll icing in a chocolate krispie cake)
– decorated stars
– and made a huge present messy play style
To tell the story I wrapped lots of nativity small world figures and put them in a stocking and then wrapped lots of other figures and put them in another stocking.
We unwrapped the nativity figures in turn as we told the nativity story. Then we unwrapped the other as we realised that this special gift was for everyone through all of time.
Everyone wrapped a picture of the nativity scene and put their name on a label which already said from God.
Finally we held our parcels as we placed a silhouette of the manager on the huge present.
It was messy, there was a lot of glitter! but everyone engaged with the story as one of the greatest present ever.
