Today took a while to get started as we had all forgotten what to do when it rains! Luckily we had arranged to spend the day with friends and they came up with the great idea of going to Catalyst museum and science centre in Widnes.
I had my first ‘proper’ museum job there so it was exciting to go back but I wasn’t sure how good it would be for small people.
Thankfully the boys loved it. We spent ages exploring the best structure for a bridge; rode the glass elevator; explored our senses; solved puzzles and more. The highlight was taking part in a soap making workshop (weird as I used to lead these!). At the end of the day the boys felt they had been ‘real scientists’.
Well worth a visit. It isn’t free – £4.95 adults £3.95 5 and overs – and workshops are £1 per person including adults. But on a wet day in the school holidays it wasn’t too busy and we stayed all day.
