Ages ago I picked up a pile of Christian Aid cake cases and they have been sat on the shelf ever since. So as it’s Christian Aid week this week I thought I would put them to good use.
At TOAST! on Sunday we gave every family a few cake cases and encouraged them, as they were baking this week, to make a few in the Christian Aid cup cake cases. Their next challenge was to sell them to a friend or relative and put the money in the Christian Aid envelope during the week.
The boys had great fun baking and decorating and then came the decision about how much to charge. G suggested £9!! E came in with a more reasonable £1.50. So Grandma and Granddad had to dig deep and I have had to buy one for E. Great excitement followed when the Christian Aid envelope came through the door and they could put their profits in there.
Just a simple activity but hopefully it will get them thinking about the wider world community and how we support each other. And as we try and establish rhythms to the ‘church life’ of TOAST! this will add Christian Aid week to the pattern.
