Father’s day traditions

A family crisis here last week pushed a few things onto the back burner including lots of Father’s Day activities. S had to spend the weekend in Manchester so we planned a way for the kids to guarantee time with him.

We decided to start a new tradition of ‘Spending Time with Dad’ vouchers for Father’s Day. E and G thought of ways they like to spend time with their dad and wrote these out as vouchers (I pay for any costs!). G chose to create a voucher for visiting the Bug House at the World Museum as he and S love it there. E (no surprises) chose a trip to Sudley House to play hide and seek there and to go inside for a drink and a ‘crisp plate’. Then for T we chose a trip to a local coffee shop where she likes to look at the lights.

Hopefully as the kids grow the vouchers will become less focussed on things they want to do and more on to S. But it feels like a good start to what will hopefully be a great family tradition.
