baby play – action songs

Spent a lovely half hour this morning snuggled up in bed with baby T. Our new favourite activity is singing songs, she particularly loves any song with actions and movement. So we had a little ‘sing song’ together. Most of the action songs we sing are ones I learnt at Baby Yoga with the boys (T due to begin Baby Yoga soon). I’ve listed a couple of them below.

If you’re happy and you know it (the old familiar with a special baby twist)

If you’re happy and you know it clap your feet (gently clap the soles of the baby’s feet together)

If you’re happy and you know it clap your feet (clap feet)

If you’re happy and you know it and you really want to show it

If you’re happy and you know it clap your feet (clap feet)

Continue with…

If you’re happy and you know it tickle your tum (tickle the baby’s tum)

If you’re happy and you know it touch your nose with your toes (gently move the baby’s toes towards their nose – don’t force them too far)

Open Shut Them

Open shut them Open shut them Give a little clap (encourage baby to clasp a finger on each of your hands then open and shut baby’s hands as though clapping)

Open shut them Open shut them Lay them in your lap (open and shut babies hands to start with then place them on baby’s knee)

Creep and crawl them Creep and crawl them Right up to your chin (climb the hands one over the other up to baby’s mouth)

Open up your little mouth and go on put them in (tickle baby’s cheeks to encourage them to open their mouth and smile)

If you have a small baby try these songs out with them. Even if you think your singing isn’t great don’t worry your baby will be your biggest fan. Or if you are running toddler activities include some baby songs in the mix – the toddlers will love them too.
