We all crashed into half term exhausted by weeks crammed with new school, new pre school, preparations for baby 3, manic work schedule and a broken foot! So towards the middle of last week I decided this week needed to be simple – lots of low key activities to allow plenty of time for play and plenty of time for rest. (To begin half term we headed up to mum’s caravan in the Lake District straight after school.)
Yesterday -day 1- we headed over to Grasmere. It was freezing – but we had a great time throwing stones into the river, feeding the ducks, playing in the playground and the favourite activity of the day, playing Pooh Sticks. The boys loved throwing the sticks in and running across the bridge to see them reappear. There was much hilarity as S’s sticks all seemed to disappear. Back in the car for a picnic (it was too cold to eat outside!) we read the story Pooh invents a new game after which the boys wanted to play again!
A great and simple way to spend time – though I’m not sure who was most competitive the boys or us.
