Full full full of love

Yesterday we started a new series at Sparklers (under 5s). Instead of concentrating on Bible stories for a few weeks we are using well known children’s books. As we explore the themes within them we relate them to Bible stories and/or our relationship with God. Each week I’ll add the story we used.

We started with a book I have blogged about before – Full Full Full of Love by Trish Cooke.

“For Jay Jay, Sunday dinner at Grannie’s house is always full – full of hugs and kisses, full of tasty dishes, full to the brim with happy faces, full, full, full of love”

We set a table for Sunday lunch and added our favourite food (and food for one little girl’s teddies). We read the story together and talked about who we would invite for Sunday lunch. For most of the children it was their friends. We talked about our favourite food.

Then we looked at my favourite page where Grannie and Jay Jay “hugged and hugged and hugged and full of hugs they hugged some more”. We talked about who we loved to hug – mums dads grannies – and hugged our teddies.

Together we used dried pasta and rice, material, crepe paper to make a plate of food for Sunday lunch. And we thanked God for the people we love and who love us.
