Memory bubbles

How do you help small children experience the rhythms of life? It’s a question that’s been running through my head over the past few months as the boys get older. So today I wanted to help them begin to understand ‘new year’.

We took a pot of bubbles and chatted about all the things we remembered from this year – trips to the farm, starting pre school, chicken pox, swimming lessons, caravan holidays, visits to cousins, broken legs, etc. For each of these we blew bubbles (and popped them!) as we remembered. The boys loved it and I was amazed how much they could remember from the year.

It was a fantastic few moments to reflect on 2010 and look forward to what 2011 has in store.
